Commission 1.4 (Soil Classification)

MISSION: The mission of the Soil Classification Commission (1.4) is to promote cooperative research, communication and collaboration by Pedologists, Geomorphologists, and other Soil Scientists to discuss, design, maintain, and improve soil classification systems. Many systems support the making of soil surveys. Standardization of description and lab methods and analysis, database values, definitions of diagnostic features, and correlation between systems to facilitate sharing of data and advancing the science are main goals.
