Support for identifying soil horizons with vesicular pores
Author: Walt Schaefer, Soil Scientist, NRCS, Oklahoma     Created on: 8/29/2012    MessageID: 1545

After reading through the proposals to recognize vesicular porosity in soil horizons, I feel there is enough evidence and good reason to recognize vesicular pores within a horizon. I prefer that a suffix be added to the master horizon, over the proposal of adding a new "V" master horizon.

The only potential problem I can see is that the suffix "vv" could be confused with the suffix for a cambic horizon, which is "w". I would suggest using the letter "u" instead of "vv" as the suffix for recognizing vesicular porosity in horizons.
