SOIL MAP

The map in the center of this survey is based on a photographic image taken in 1992. The scale of the map is 1:4,800, which means that one inch distance on the map is equal to 4,800 inches (400 feet) of ground distance. The legend at the beginning of this survey (page iv and v) relates the numbers on the map to the names of the map units and identifies the symbols used on the map. For example, the areas on the map with 31 inside are identified as Ludlow silt loam, 3 to 8 percent slopes, and the special symbol that looks like two shovels crossed identifies the location of a rock quarry. More information about the map unit and an example drawing of each soil series can be found in the Soil Map Unit Description section.
